Pick Me Up pays tribute to the classic Carry On comedies in the York premiere of Terry Johnson’s Cleo, Camping, Emmanuelle and Dick – first seen at the National Theatre in 1998.

Hilarious and poignant, the play is set in Sid James’s caravan on location during the making of three of the films from 1964 to 1978.

It charts the loves, bickering and carry-on of three of the films’ best known performers – James, played by Andrew Caley (previously seen as Dennis’s Mother and Brother Maynard in Pick Me Up’s Spamalot), Kenneth Williams,  played by Adam Sowter (Pike in Dad’s Army, Sir Robin in Spamalot, and Gilbert in Betty Blue Eyes), and Barbara Windsor, played by Maya Tether (Dainty June in Gypsy, Princess Badroubadour in Disenchanted, and Dolly in One Man, Two Guvnors)
