New Trustees needed

​Do you have experience of securing major capital funding to help organisations grow? Or overseeing building projects and managing building improvements? Could you help York’s leading independent theatre in its next exciting chapter? 

 

Theatre@41 is one of York’s great success stories of the last five years. Originally established in 2000, the theatre has been revitalised post-pandemic by a team of dedicated volunteers to host nearly 200 performances a year. We welcome thousands of people through our doors each year to either participate in or experience first class performance. Having established ourselves as a vibrant and dynamic part of York’s cultural community we want to do more, and have plans for the improvement and expansion of our space at 41 Monkgate.

 

To help make this happen, we are seeking two new trustees with experience of either:

• Capital fundraising, grant applications or major fundraising campaigns.

• Property development, building management or construction projects.

 

This is a great opportunity to use your experience to make a lasting difference to the creative community of York, with the support of a small, dynamic organisation and a proactive board.

 

The roles are hands-on, with each Trustee using their experience to lead on their key area of development. The Trustees formally meet on a quarterly basis, with work on key projects taking place between meetings. We are conscious that trustees are giving up their spare time so would have an open conversation with any potential appointee about what would be realistic in terms of commitment.

 

We want our Board to reflect the vibrant community we serve, so we warmly welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and walks of life. We are particularly keen to increase representation from groups currently underrepresented in the theatre sector. As this role requires occasional visits to the theatre, candidates should be based in or near York.
